Location Performance 96 will be hosted by the Laboratoire de Réseau de Communicationsat the Ecole Polytechnique Fédéral de Lausanne (EPFL or Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne), Switzerland. Lausanne is beautifully located on the north shore of lake Geneva (le Lac Léman), 61km from Geneva, looking onto the Swiss Alps. It is a medium size town with a total population of around 300,000 and is the capital of the Canton of Vaud, in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Among the excursions organised for accompanying persons during the conference, will be a cultural tour of the city. Participants will have the possibility to subscribe for a ski weekend in Zermatt, one of Switzerland's most famous ski-resorts. Zermatt is a picturesque village near the Swiss-Italian border, offering all-year-round skiing and a stunning view of the Matterhorn.

How to get to EPFL The nearest airport from Lausanne is Geneva airport (Cointrin). When you arrive at Cointrin, take the direct train for Lausanne (half an hour). Zurich airport (Kloten) is at 2h30 by train from Lausanne. At Lausanne station tke the METRO until "Place du Flon". There, you can take the METRO until EPFL. Once on the EPFL site, follow the "Perfomrance '96" signs.
For those who come by car, you have the autoroute until "sortie" LAUSANNE-SUD. Then you drive for about 2km direction Geneva and you will be at EPFL. A parking for visitors is provided.
Registration Information
The registration fee for the conference is 750 swiss francs which includes the tutorial sessions and the conference. A special price of 300 francs is available for full-time students. Registration forms should be received before 1st September 1996; after this date a 100.- supplement will be charged. Note that there is no reduction for partial attendance.

Proceedings 36 fully refereed papers will be presented in the main track of the conference and appear as a special issue of PERFORMANCE EVALUATION. Papers being presented in parallel sessions will be made available through WWW.

Social programme
In addition to the conference and tutorial sessions, a social programme is organised, consisting of an aperatif on Tuesday evening and a banquet on Thursday evening.
